A win for Milan will help the Rossoneri climb back to the top of the table, but a win for Inter could spell the end of the club’s season, according to Inter sporting director Domenico Di Stefano.
The Italian outfit had their best start to a Serie A campaign since the 2002-03 campaign and are now five points off the top four.
Di Stefano believes Inter can still be a force to be reckoned with, even if they have to drop points to a team with a far more experienced squad.
“It’s important for us to keep improving,” said the Inter sporting executive.
“In the past two weeks we’ve seen some great performances, and we’re still in the top six, so it’s important to stay on top.”
I don’t think we will drop points, because it’s a great team and we have some great players.
It’s not just the performance we have, but the way we approach the game.
Inter’s midfielders, Giampiero Ventura and Francesco Totti, are among the world’s best in their position.
They’ve won the Europa League twice in the last three years, and are among a host of other players who are making a mark in Serie A. However, the Bianconeri’s best chance of reaching the top eight may be a draw against Inter, the side they beat 2-0 in Milan’s opening fixture.
Milan are still in fourth place with a goal difference of 1.4, but Di Stefao said the Rossonese need to improve.
“We have a very good team,” he said.
“We have some good players.
We know they have a lot of talent.
We just need to keep working and improving, and I think we can do that.”
It would be nice if we lose a point.
We have a good squad, but we are still not perfect.
“Inter have won just once in their last nine league matches, while the Bianconeas have only conceded eight goals.
Andrea Dossa is Milan’s best player, and was at the centre of the Inter defense that gave Milan the opening goal in the 1-0 win at San Siro.
But Di Stefato expects the Rossoni to take more risks with the ball.”
But if you’re going to win games, you have to be disciplined and stay calm and stay compact.” “
I’m sure it will be difficult to concede a goal like that when you’re so high up the table.”
But if you’re going to win games, you have to be disciplined and stay calm and stay compact.”
With Inter’s squad set to be bolstered by the arrival of Dani Alves from Juventus, Di Stefanno said he will be pleased to see the Argentine take his place on the bench.
Dani Alves has been in Italy for a few years, so I think he is a great addition to our team.” “
He has been with Inter for a long time, so he has experience and will be very good for us.”
Dani Alves has been in Italy for a few years, so I think he is a great addition to our team.”
Inter also beat Sassuolo in the Champions League last-16 round, and Di Stefana said he’s expecting a similarly strong performance in the Nerazzurri clash with Fiorentina on Tuesday night.
After winning the Europa Leagues for the first time in his career last term, Di Stede is back in the spotlight, with Milan having not been beaten by Fiorence since 2010.
He has played a big part in the club winning the league, the cup and the Serie A title in three consecutive seasons, but he will feel he is on the shortlist of candidates to take over as Milan manager in the summer.
For the moment, however, he has a long way to go before he is recognised as one of the world champions, with former coach Alessandro De Laurentiis in the shade.
